Instagram. Twitter. Facebook. YouTube. It seems like every day people are spending more and more time interacting with each other through social media platforms, and marketers are definitely taking notice of the trend. Social Media Marketing has increased significantly over the past few years as businesses are trying to find new ways to meet customers where they are: online. Social media can be the perfect medium for companies to build their brand, increase customer interactions, and drive traffic towards their website to boost sales and e-commerce. While each social media platform may require a different approach, a brand’s social strategy should be cohesive to help reinforce the unique imagery and voice consumers associate with the brand.
GSD&M is a full-service advertising agency based in Austin, Texas. Adopting their own take on “Keep Austin Weird”, GSD&M has continually embraced quirkiness and authenticity in its personal branding and client projects. GSD&M is credited with starting the Chicken Wars between its client, Popeye’s Chicken, and Chick-Fil-A earlier this year. We loved hearing about the role social media plays in GSD&M’s strategy for clients, especially when viral results start rolling in. Who wouldn’t want to see tweets about their brand trending on Twitter?
Charlie Joslin, our amazing speaker of last night’s Tuesday Speaker event, currently serves as the Senior Social Strategist at GSD&M. His passion for creative social campaigns can be seen in his background in social media marketing in both freelancing and working directly for companies. We are so grateful to have had the opportunity to learn from his varied experiences in social media marketing and how they’ve contributed to the innovative campaigns he’s contributed to for GSD&M.
Here are a few takeaways we got from his talk:
