Humans of AMA – Omama Qureshi

What got you interested in marketing?

In high school, I competed in Business Professional of America’s Global Marketing Competition. My team and I had to create a full marketing plan for a new sports team. It really got me hooked because I loved coming up solutions after compiling and analyzing data, and the creative side of creating logos and graphics.

What is the title of your autobiography? What would the title be if someone else was writing a biography about you?

I would title my autobiography “Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Oreos”

Someone else would name my biography “HERstory”

Best piece of advice someone has ever given you.

The best advice I’ve gotten is to keep my head held high and to keep moving forward. Life was not kind to me this past year, but I got through the tough times and grew as a person.

You know how digital advertisements target people based on interests or lifestyle? Have you been served an ad before that crossed the line or came off as creepy?

This one time, my parents were considering buying me a car so that I could drive myself home rather than rely on someone else. The next day, most of the ads were from Honda, even though I never searched about the car. Are our computers listening to us because this sounds like the beginning of a Black Mirror episode?

What is your favorite product in the whole wide world? Now imagine you are planning a commercial for that product. Which celebrity do you hire to be in the ad?

There’s no doubt about it that my favorite product is Oreos. My commercial would be something along the lines of a debate with topics like Original vs. Double Stuff, Milk or No Milk, and The Proper Way to Eat an Oreo, and I’d hire Rihanna to participate.

How do you de-stress?

Painting has always been a way for me to relax and unwind. However, I don’t have a lot of space in my apartment to paint or have enough time, so I’m relying on my bullet journal nowadays.

What song do you want to play whenever you walk into a room?

That’s a really hard question because my taste in music is always changing. But, right now, I’m listening to a lot of Halsey and Lana Del Rey so maybe something by them.

What is your favorite college memory?

It’s hard to pick something specific, but I would say probably say when I saw Glass Animals at ACL this year. Because I’m so short, no one objected to me pushing all the way to the front. I was so close that I could almost touch the lead singer. I love them so much.
